As a “bricks & mortar business” in a thriving downtown shopping district, the Ypsilanti Food Co-op supports and reinforces a variety of Green goals.  Our centralized location enhances walk-ability and bike-ability.  Errands and trips can be combined to minimize driving.  Embodied energy is conserved when the built environment is preserved and reused in new ways.  Community feeling is reinforced and strengthened when you meet at your neighbors at your local grocery store.  Merchants are approachable and can better serve their customers in neighborhood stores.
